If your extension has been assigned a registered texting number, you can text from Portal, Web Phone, or your Mobile App.
You may both text (SMS) and attach pictures (MMS).
You can also call the contact right from the texting window.
How Do I Send a Text from Portal?
If a registered Texting number is assigned to your Extension, you will be able to text from Portal while in your Extension view.
Instructions
Click on the Messages Tab.
If you have an Admin permission level and are in your Manager View, you may use the dropdown next to your Profile Name to choose Messages. Your View will automatically swap to Extension View and open in the Messages tab.
Choose the Chat and SMS tab.
Any previous Chat and SMS (texting) conversations will be available on the page.
You can continue your Text by highlighting the conversation and then clicking the Reply icon.
If you would like to start a new Text, choose New Conversation.
A pop-up Texting window will open. Enter thePhone Number of the person you would like to text with.
Select the Phone Number. ChooseStart.
Type your message or attach a file by clicking the Attachment paper clip. When you are ready to send, just enter.
How Do I Send a Text from Web Phone?
If a registered Texting number is assigned to your Extension, you will be able to text from theMobile App and the Web Phone.
Instructions
A new Text Messagecan be initiated by selecting the plus+ icon at the bottom right corner. Then, click the New Conversationedit pencil icon.
You will have the option to Text from Web Phone if your Extensionis assigned a registered Texting number.
If you have multiple phone numbers with Texting assigned, you may select the phone number to send the text from the bottom right dropdown menu.
Type in the External number and click the greencheckmark. You may then type your message and enter to send. You may attach by using the Attachment paper clip icon.
How Do I Send a Text from the Mobile App?
If a registered Texting number is assigned to your Extension, you will be able to text from theMobile App and the Web Phone.
Instructions
Log in to the Mobile App using your Portal Extension username/password. Click the option that says "Chat and SMS".
If you would like to start a new Text, click the Edit pencil icon in the bottom right corner.
You will then either choose from your list of Contacts, or you may type in the number to search/select. Click the done checkmark icon when you have your selection.
For Extensions with more than one assigned texting number, you may also choose from your Texting numbers by using the dropdown beside your number at the bottom of the screen.
Compose your message and click Send.
Text Messages (SMS) and Pictures (MMS) are sent separately. If you are also sending a picture, click the paperclip attachment icon. If the Mobile App has permission, you will be able to access your cell phone's Camera and saved Pictures. Make your choice(s).
An orange checkmark will appear on your selection, and you will see the picture count appear on the paperclip attachment icon.
When your choices are complete, choose Send.
Note: Supported file types are: .jpeg, .jpg,.png, .gif, and .mp4 video. Most major carriers allow up to 1MB in size to be received by their customers. Sizes or file types outside of these ranges/types will display an error message so that you can make the correction and resend.
How Do I Send a Text from Clarity Cellular?
If a registered Texting number is assigned to your Extension, you will be able to text from Clarity Cellular. You will text from your cell phone's native texting option.
Instructions
Click the Messages icon on your cell phone.
NOTE: The SMS/Text notification on your cell phone is for both your native cell phone Messages and your Clarity Extension's Text Messages.
Click Create aNew Message.
Enter the phone number you would like to send the text to and click the + icon.
Tap the From field and select Business.
Enter your text message and send!
Note: If you are using Clarity Cellular texting without SMS Sync, you will text from your Clarity Cellular device only.
If you need the ability to also text from Portal, this can be enabled for you by our Support team. With SMS Sync, you will be able to text from both Portal and your Clarity Cellular device.
With SMS Sync:
Inbound texts will appear in both places.
Outbound texts sent from Portal will only appear in Portal and not Clarity Cellular. Outbound texts sent from yourClarity Cellular device will appear in both places.
